Mary-Ann Stevens

Artists Bio

The work of Mary-Ann Stevens  has an edgy, semi-autobiographical narrative, which explores identity and the representation and social expectations of gender. The appealing quirky characters she creates are often odd, peculiar, and unconventional. Created using larger than life papier-mache masks, miniature plasticine models or costume and props these fictional characters have a vulnerability that engages the viewer. 
 
Mary-Ann Stevens holds a Bachelor Degree in English Literature and a Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from University of the Arts London. She has completed a Masters of Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art, London, 2021, with distinction.
