The Elephant in the Room
Water colour pencil on paper (2022)
It's been a week
Without any sleep.
There is no change.
I'm tired.
At least I tried.
And then I cried.
Tears as big as elephant ears,
Confusion
Dissolved in a moment.
And looking up
I see time gone.
The clock swings
Uneasily,
Living in the past
Tripping fast.
Scared to show the elephant,
Scared what they will think.
Always in the background
Smudges of pen and ink.
Not afraid to highlight the dark,
Not afraid to make a mark.
Colour saturation
A lot of concentration
Too much temptation.
In the calm
My heart beats.
In the heat,
The elephant
Is still in the room.
Without any sleep.
There is no change.
I'm tired.
At least I tried.
And then I cried.
Tears as big as elephant ears,
Confusion
Dissolved in a moment.
And looking up
I see time gone.
The clock swings
Uneasily,
Living in the past
Tripping fast.
Scared to show the elephant,
Scared what they will think.
Always in the background
Smudges of pen and ink.
Not afraid to highlight the dark,
Not afraid to make a mark.
Colour saturation
A lot of concentration
Too much temptation.
In the calm
My heart beats.
In the heat,
The elephant
Is still in the room.
